— a celebration of the radically diverse ways we express our lives through music —
In a snapshot of the endlessly varied forms of musical expression throughout our community, Contemporaneous hosts a non-genre musical gathering with sets by some of the most powerful artists working amongst us: daring avant-rock band Boio, “genre obliterating” Warp Trio, and Forward Music Project, Amanda Gookin’s multimedia set of solo cello works seeking to empower women and girls.
In the face of division, hashtags, and soundbites, Forward Music Project 2.0: In This Skin commissions five new multimedia works for solo cello and provides space and time for audiences to listen deeply to, interact with, and contemplate the visceral joys and struggles of women.
